Waiting on Wednesday: The Gaslight Dogs by Karin Lowachee

(Meme from ETA Breaking the Spine)

=O What is this? I actually have a book to talk about for Waiting on Wednesday? *is in shock*

Summary from OrbitBooks.Net:

At the edge of the known world a new empire built on war, technology, and religious fervor faces a new enemy.

A young spiritwalker of the Aniw and a captain in the Ciracusan army both find themselves unexpectedly thrown together, the Aniw girl a prisoner taken from her people, the soldier a reluctant student of a forbidden talent—one that may turn the tide of the war and will surely brand him an outcast.

From the rippling curtains of light in an Arctic sky, to the gaslit cobbled streets of the city, war is coming to the frozen north. Two people have a choice that will decide the fates of nations—and may cast them into a darkness that threatens to bring destruction to both their peoples.

(Coming out APRIL 2010)

I know I actually can't think of ANY titles of Inuit SFF fiction. *face of WOE*

GUHHHHHHHH SOKKA!! *CLINGS* He was totally my second favourite guy character in that show. *was not a Zuko fan* (First is Iroh, obviously. Nothing beats Iroh and his all-powerful tea. =D)

LULZ She's getting it from me this weekend, as long as she remembers to lend me The Summoning, that is. =D

(LULZ eta. =D tytyty)

I watched a bit of the Avatar show but I never finished it =/
I'm adding this to my list of books to wait for and I plan on spotlighting it soon too. Thanks so much for bringing it to my attention!

Ooh, nice pick. This sounds really intriguing--the Artic and spirit-walkers! I'll have to check this out :)

@MissAttitude, awwwww, I *love* Avatar. Well, once I got around to season 2. Season 1 was a bit formulaic for me. lol, and usually I'm nervous about rec-ing things before I've tried reading it first, but I can definitely vouch for excellent writing, at the very least. =D

@Choco, I know, I'm so excited!! =D
